Hello, I’m Jules!

My Story

I didn’t always enjoy cooking. In fact, I avoided it well into my 20s. It felt like a chore, something to get through rather than something to enjoy. But at the same time, I’ve always been a foodie. I loved trying different cuisines, new flavors, and anything that felt a little outside the usual routine. Eating was exciting, cooking just hadn’t caught up yet.

That started to change when I stopped treating recipes like rules. Instead of following exact measurements, I began making small swaps, adding what I felt like, and leaning into what sounded good in the moment. Over time, that turned into a more instinctive way of cooking, guided less by curiosity than by what actually tastes good together. It’s not always precise, but it’s always interesting.

I’m an Indian American, and that shapes the way I cook in a big way. I’ve always been drawn to spices, not just for heat, but for the depth and texture they bring to a dish. A pinch of something here, a squeeze of citrus there, fresh herbs at the end – it all adds up. My recipes are rarely built on just a handful of ingredients. They tend to include layers: spices, herbs, seasoning blends, and small finishing touches that make the food feel complete.

At the same time, I’ve grown up and lived in the U.S., so my kitchen reflects a mix of influences. Some of my favorite foods span a wide range – pulled pork, tandoori-style chicken, pani puri, Cajun shrimp, pesto, lamb gyros, al pastor tacos, crabcakes. I tend to gravitate toward bold flavors and meals that feel satisfying, especially anything seafood. And I have a soft spot for tropical ingredients like mango, pineapple, and cilantro, which find their way into a lot of what I cook.

These days, my cooking style is a bit unpredictable in the best way. When I pull a cauliflower out of the fridge, I genuinely don’t know where it’s going. It might turn into tacos, a spiced curry, or a creamy blended sauce. That flexibility keeps things from feeling repetitive and makes cooking feel less like a task and more like a creative outlet.

I’m also very much a visual eater. Color matters to me. A plate that looks fresh and vibrant somehow tastes better too. So you’ll find a lot of bright ingredients, contrasting textures, and meals that feel light but still satisfying.

This space reflects all of that. The recipes here are practical, seasonal, and flexible. Some are quick, some can be made ahead, and most leave room for you to adjust based on what you have or what you’re in the mood for. If you like food that feels real, adaptable, and just a little bit creative, you’ll feel at home here.
